The Journal of Practical Ecology and Conservation aims to provide a vehicle for papers, articles, notes and discussion relating to all aspects of ecology and nature conservation. In particular, we hope to encourage the dissemination of information and opinions on practical aspects of land management and restoration ecology, survey techniques and relevant professional practice.

We are very keen to receive information for our news and snippets section and comments or opinions for our discussion pages. This will rely on you, the reader, contributing your views, your news and your information.

The Journal will be open to contributions on relevant research, practical implementation and techniques on professional practice and views on relating to practical ecology and conservation. Theoretical ecology and issues such as the philosophy of conservation will be considered if they relate to practical aspects of the subject. The intention is to maintain a high academic standard, whilst encouraging a style that is clear, uncluttered and both relevant and accessible to a broad readership. Authours should consult earlier editions of the Journal for style and format. Formal papers, articles, reviews and short notes are all welcome with an emphasis on practical aspects of conservation ecology.

Please note: Although this web site is, in effect the e-journal equivalent of the hard copy, full discussion papers or articles can only be accepted through normal postal channels: the address is elsewhere on the site (see 'Subscriptions'). However, snippets and views can be submitted for consideration for the 'Eco-bites' section via e-mail to Paul Howden-Leach. A dedicated submission form will eventually appear on a relevant page.

We wish to acknowledge support from Sheffield Hallam University and also to thank Penny Anderson Associates for their help.
